JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT · OP 36 LEVELS 1–3 · AGES 7–9 · 10–12 · 13+
A clear path from first swing to real scores.
Development is where every junior starts. Small-group practice by age, once or twice a week, on the Operation 36 pathway, plus two 9-hole events every month and an optional PGA Jr. League team. Reach 150 yards and move up to Performance.
Led by Bo Baker, PGA · Operation 36 Master Top 50 Coach, 2023–2025 · Two-time IEPGA Teacher of the Year
HOW OPERATION 36 WORKS
Shoot 36 from close in. Then move back.
Kids play nine holes starting just 25 yards from each green. Shoot par (36) and they graduate to the next distance. Beginners score from day one, and every level up is something they earned on the course, not a box a coach ticked.
25 Yards
Brand new to golf? Start here. Grip, stance, chipping, putting and making solid contact.
50 Yards
Basics are in place. Now a real pitch shot, a basic bunker shot, consistent technique and ball control.
100 Yards
Solid fundamentals and ready for more: full swing, distance control and scoring from 100 yards.
150 Yards+
Players who reach 150 yards move up to Performance: two-hour practices with more time on the course and a tournament plan.
Levels are how players progress, not which class they're in. Development covers Levels 1–3; at 150 yards, players move up to Performance. Classes are grouped by age, and coaches run stations so every player works at their own level. New players start at Level 1; returning Op 36 players keep theirs.
WHAT A MONTH LOOKS LIKE
Practice every week. Play every month.
Skills get built in weekly practice, then tested where it counts: on the course. Every month includes two 9-hole Operation 36 events, and players who add PGA Jr. League also play two team events.
Operation 36 9-hole events
Nine holes on the course from your player's level distance. This is where they post scores and earn the next level. Green fees included.
PGA Jr. League
Team golf. Players wear numbered team jerseys and play a relaxed scramble format alongside a teammate, so nobody carries the round alone. It's the friendliest first taste of competition there is.

Your child's age sets the time.

QUESTIONS PARENTS ASK
Before you sign up
-
Perfect. That's exactly what Level 1 is for. We start from scratch and make it fun. No experience needed.
-
With just six players, coaches split each class into stations by Operation 36 level, so a Level 1 player and a Level 3 player of the same age both get the right work. New players start at Level 1 and move up quickly if they're ready; returning players keep their level.
-
It varies, and that's fine. Players who practice outside of class always move up faster. If your child is putting in the work and still stuck, we'll reach out to schedule an intensive.
-
It's an optional team add-on: two team events a month with numbered jerseys and a scramble format alongside a teammate. It's great for kids who love the social side of sport. Operation 36 is the core program; Jr. League is extra fun on top.
-
Two Operation 36 9-hole events and two PGA Jr. League events each month. Dates are posted at the start of every month.
-
Comfortable athletic clothes (golf attire if you have it) and closed-toe shoes. No clubs yet? US Kids Golf is the best place to start. Get clubs fitted to your child's height and skill level.
-
Yes. If your child would do better one-on-one, or you'd like a group of siblings or friends, book a free 15-minute call and we'll find the right fit.
